Job Description

Seeking experienced Engineer-Submarine Sonar with Secret Clearance:

* Provide onboard and distance support technical assistance locally and overseas in various places worldwide to evaluate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and/or provide technical oversight and guidance to correct equipment deficiencies of the acoustic equipment in operational submarines.
* Provide telephone, e-mail, CHAT, and Naval message distance support to deployed and local submarines in technical and logistic support matters associated with acoustic equipment.
* Provide a written TAVR and TAVR worksheet data upon completion of FTA support. Enter FTA/maintenance data into STAARS, RMAIS, and other data bases and status reports
* Provide onboard support for the acoustic systems portion of Total Ship Readiness Assessments (TSRA).
* Provide management and coordination support for TSRA process improvement initiatives, activities, semi-annual TSRA conferences, and meetings, etc., including preparation and development of briefs, presentations, on-site and/or onboard preparation and participation, and follow-up activities including tracking and accomplishment of action items.
* Utilize Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and SUBMEPP Combat Systems Test Procedures, as outlined to support the Combat Systems Assessment Plan, and/or directed by the Test Director after a Shipyard availability. This support is in order to assist ships force in performing Combat Systems Assessment testing and troubleshooting of the AN/BSY-1(V) and or AN/BQQ-5, AN/BQQ-10 series Sonar Suite (including auxiliaries), and the Acoustic Systems Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) prior to completion of a Shipyard availability and provide for at-sea systems requirement testing if required. At sea testing is required.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk significant distances, traverse scaffolding and vertical ladders.The duties of this job require manual dexterity to hold and manipulate hand tools and very small components, lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) from floor level to overhead as well as bend, stoop, crawl and climb in/through confined/tight spaces.

* Minimum of eight (8) years of experience of onboard Submarine Tactical Sonar Systems, Acoustic Rapid COTS Insertion (ARCI) systems, Legacy Equipment associated with ARCI, Distress Beacon, Receiving Sets, Detecting and Ranging Sets, Sonar Comms, Computers, Sonar Interface Groups, and Sounding for Los Angeles (688/688I) Class Systems, Virginia (774) Class Systems, Seawolf Class and SSGN Class Systems. Applicant shall be able to accomplish troubleshooting, testing, grooming, operating, training and corrective action/repairs of the following systems: AN/BQQ-10(V)1 thru (V)6; AN/BQQ-5D(V), AN/BQQ-5E(V)3, AN/BQQ-6(V); AN/BQN-17/17A and AN/UQN-1; AN/BQN-13A, AN/BQR-22A,, AN/BQS-15/15A, AN/UYK-7, AN/UYK-43, AN/WQC-2A, ON-144, ON-247, AN/WQC-6, AN/WLR-9(V), AN/WLY-1, AN/BQH-1, AN/BQH-7 (SSXBT), and AN/BQC-1.* Applicant should be currently qualified Fiber Optic Installer or Technician per ESA standards. Must have experience supporting submarine Total Ship Readiness Assessments (TSRA).
* Six (6) years full time engineering experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test and/or repair of submarine mechanical/electrical and or electronic systems/equipment. Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action.

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must hold active Secret Clearance
Must pass drug and background screenings
